What the drill names mean
- Which side first Timing
- Two jobs; the difference is order. You played here; the better move is far away.
- Settle your group first A base
- The better move sits on your unsettled stones; you ran out or up. Not a life-and-death problem.
- Take the ko, or not
- There is a ko: take it, or play elsewhere. Not hunting ko threats.
- One of two places Miai
- Two distant places; playing one gives up the other. You took the worse one.
- The move you didn’t see
- The point does not look like much at first. After you look, it is the move. Not the vital point of a shape.
- This corner you keep missing
- Still in the same corner in the opening, not one of the usual plays. Not a joseki name.
- When ahead, keep it simple
- You are already clearly ahead. Take the profit. You started a fight instead.
